The work of the expressive Slovak painter and sculptor Ladislav Černý lives on a permanent provocation that polarizes and triggers explosive discourse.
In doing so, he blatantly looks behind superficially intact facades, sometimes granting insights even into his own soul and exposing the actors in the act. Many of Černýýs works shock as they bluntly expose forbidden obsessions. The attentive viewer looking through the keyhole catches the protagonists in flagrante delicto, and is directly at the action.
His expressive directness lives from the contradictory. Shocking collides with full force and monumentality on delicate, highly vulnerable. His snapshots of everyday life tell overwhelming stories of ordinary people in the hectic hustle and bustle of our time. In this way, he ignites an almost unimaginable spectacle of contemporary art, a firework of colours and compositions with enormous radiance. Protest, stimulation and provocation are far removed from the zeitgeist in his cryptic productions. He uses the turbulent head cinema as an unconscious protege of his "private investigations".
